How to Use Blogger Black Book

While Blogger Black Book is an invaluable directory, it also eliminates the guessing game by ranking the bloggers, based on a number of objective and recognized criteria, allowing users to easily identify the top bloggers in any given subject matter. We’ve created a proprietary algorithm and will maintain the Blogger Black Book Top 100.

Our algorithm averages the data from eight objective data sites: Alexa, Compete, Google Page Rank, PostRank, Technorati and Yahoo InLinks.

We’re adding dozens of new blogs each day and have plans to expand into other product review categories (e.g. books, food, fashion, home and garden, music, et al.) in the very near future.

Our algorithm averages the data from eight objective data sites: Alexa, Compete, Google PageRank, PostRank, Technorati and Yahoo InLinks.

Alexa Points

Alexa ranks sites with an algorithm that incorporates page views and reach (the percentage of all web users who have visited that particular site).

Compete

Compete provides Unique Visitor estimates for any given time period.

Google PageRank

Google PageRank is a link-analysis algorithm that interprets web links and assigns a numerical weighting (0 to 10) to each site. High-quality sites receive a higher PageRank.

PostRank

PostRank measures engagement per post of each blog. It measures frequency, number of comments, reposts, etc.

Technorati Blogs*

Technorati analyzes the number of sites pointing to a particular blog. The more link sources referencing your blog, the higher the Technorati ranking.

Technorati InLinks*

Technorati tallies the number of links to a particular blog.

Technorati Ranks*

Technorati's Authority count is the number of blogs (as opposed to individual links) that link to a particular blog.

Yahoo InLinks

This IDs the number of links to a blog.

* For now, Technorati will be lifted from the ranking system for Blogger Black Book. We have every intention of bringing it back if and when they put their new API online, but for now, it is excluded to give a level-playing field to all blogs listed in our database.
